China Cove Beach in Newport Beach, CA: What to Expect (2024)

China Cove Beach is a small beach in Newport Beach, CA, surrounded by a residential community.

Because it’s located in a secluded area just a few blocks down from popular Corona del Mar State Beach, China Cove is pretty quiet.

1. Navigate to Ocean Blvd. and Fernleaf Ave. Find parking on the street. Note that cars may not park down in the neighborhood where the beach is located.

2. Take the staircase down into the neighborhood.

The building China Cove is named after no longer exists, but Caltech’s William G. Kerckhoff Marine Laboratory, one of the oldest marine labs on the West Coast, is here.
