Crystal Cove Beach Cottages: What to Expect
The Crystal Cove Cottages are a set of 46 historic cottages located right on the beach in Crystal Cove State Park. 24 of them are currently available for rental.
The Crystal Cove Cottages date back to the 1920s and 1930s when they were built as a seaside colony. Over the years, these beachfront cottages became a popular getaway for artists, filmmakers, and beach lovers, eventually becoming a core attraction within Crystal Cove State Park.
Cottage Preservation Efforts
The preservation of Crystal Cove Cottages is the result of collaborative efforts between the state of California and a non-profit organization called the Crystal Cove Conservancy. These efforts aim to protect the historic structures, allowing visitors to experience the coastal heritage of the region.
Currently, a significant portion of the cottages are being restored. You can learn more about the cottages at the museum located on the south end of the beach.

Restaurants Near the Cottages
The Beachcomber Cafe
The Beachcomber Cafe is the main dining option near the cottages. In the back, there is a bar area called The Bootlegger Bar.
Shake Shack
Shake Shack is known for their burgers and shakes. (Note: This is different from the NYC-based fast casual franchise with the same name.)
How to Reserve a Cottage
Due to their popularity and limited availability, we recommend making reservations well in advance (at least 6 months prior) if you plan to stay at Crystal Cove Cottages. The demand for these cottages is high because of their historical significance and unique coastal experience.
You can also show up on-site and check for any same-day cancellations.
